Heads of State

I came across this design studio when I was looking for interesting music industry design for my new context brief. Their work really struck me. Immediately from just looking at their website and it's layout I knew that I would like the work they produced. After all, web design is incredibly important, I am noticing this more and more recently. Poor design and I turn off straight away, it's bad, but I don't even give it a chance.
Jason Kernevich and Dustin Summers have been working together in one form or another since 2002. After graduating Tyler School of Art’s militant design program, Kernevich and Summers began making silkscreen posters for Philadelphia’s independent music scene. The graphic and conceptual simplicity of their collaborations made an immediate impact on the burgeoning poster revival in North America. Local clients and small projects paved the way to international acclaim and assignments from the likes of R.E.M., Wilco, and The New York Times. They now run a full-service design and illustration operation, applying their graphic elegance and visual wit to a wide range of clients and projects. They’ve won awards from Communication Arts, American Illustration, Print Magazine, Graphis, and the Society of Illustrators.

Very impressive list.

A couple of campaigns they have done.
This is very interesting to me. It reminds me a lot of one of the ISDT briefs we have been looking at for the next part of the module where we have to visually represent a song using its lyrics.

POSTERS

These are some of the music/band posters they have produced. As said copious amounts of times, I would love to create work like this. Both because it looks nice, and because it is brilliant at drawing people to shows. Eye-catching work leads to people reading the posters.

BOOK COVERS
These are very interesting to me as personal design is very much something I would like to try out. One's own interpretation of a book's content, visually represented on the cover.
I have stated a lot that this is an area of graphic design that I am very much interested in.

This is a design studio that I am very much going to keep and eye out on.
They have a very distinctive style which I love... and very much work in areas that I am interested in.

Very inspiring as I embark on the next part of the course!

EAMO

What first struck me about this designer was the website. It has a very 'cute' style which really puts the work into context. It gives a real feel of what is to come.
The illustration has a very distinct style.

Adam + Company

Adam + Company is an award-winning studio based in Boston. Since my work for Glayva in the YCN brief I have been very interested in work for alcohol (packaging and bottle design) and this is how I came across this studio.
They also do a lot of work for the music industry. Doing album cover designs for people such as Madonna. Very impressive work.
Intricate illustration
Beautiful combinations of type and image.

Branding
Kristine Mullaney Design

Campaign
In collaboration with Ness Higsonand Real Branding, Inc.Adam&Co. designed a viral campaign to announce the U.S. launch of Duvel Green. Our campaign used longitude and lattitude coordinates as a means for directing Duvel Seekers to the few, very select locations across the country where it can be found on-tap. Upon referencing the campaign, customers received a passport. At each location that they discover, they get a stamp, earning them greater access to branded giveaways and events.

Madonna
As her 25 year contract with Warner Brothers came to an end, Madonna was to release a definitive greatest hits record that would catalogue her career to date, simply titled “Hits”. Adam&Co. was invited to develop packaging concepts for the release. This concept illustrates a 6-panel digi-pak enclosed in a clear plastic, 1 color silk-screened sleeve. The digi-pak folds out to reveal Madonna posed in the sign of the cross. The booklet that accompanied the package was designed to resemble a bible. Each chapter containing text around each album of her career, accompanied by a unique illustration that references her stylings from that era.

Ilovedust

There seems to be too many examples of work that I like from this studio to put in one post.
The breadth of skills from this studio are amazing. Print, screen, packaging, identity... and all with a very illustrative feel.
It is clear they take a lot of care with their image and their work.

We are ilovedust, a multi-disciplinary design boutique. We specialise in creative solutions from graphic design and illustration to animation and trend prediction.
We ply our trade in 2 contrasting studio spaces; one located in the heart of East London, the other on the tip of the south coast. Just a short stroll from the ocean and surrounded by the rolling Hampshire countryside, our south coast team enjoy a distinct vantage point working in a former butcher’s workshop. Conversely rooted in the heart of creative hub Shoreditch, our London studio thrive on the buzz and energy of the city in a converted tool-maker’s foundry. The blend of both environments provides us with a unique and inspiring perspective.
We mix some of the best British designers along with talent from around the globe.
We collaborate both in-house and with global brands, working together to create fresh, innovative design which makes up our award-winning portfolio.
